I am a dreamer

That’s who I’m meant to be

And yet its hard, I’ll go ahead

and introduce you to the woman In the mirror

The one I love to see

She’s got long red locks

Eyes shifty grey

She’s got that glowing brown skin,

The type for which the pale girls pay

Her second home aside from home

I’m talking spotlights and the stage

There’s nowhere else she’d rather be

She’s got no reason to be afraid.

I am a dreamer

There’s some other folks for you to meet

She’s the summation of the trenches

A hood chick, rapper prodigy

Think Lil’ Kim in her prime

Everybody’s fantasy

She’s dripped out, glowing

With that Roxbury vibrancy

There’s one last girl for y’all to meet

Her name is Peaches

But she ain’t sweet

Her boyfriend’s name be June

And everyday he’s in the streets

She got a side dude named Clyde

He plays basketball on the side

In him, her darkest secrets

She confides

And ooh that boy be fine!

At least once a week I’ll wonder

Stare in the bathroom mirror

Ponder

I see a pretty girl with long braids

Skinny frame

Lash extensions

Makeup caked face

Jewelry, good taste

She’s fly

But I can’t help but wonder.

I wonder when will my reflection be

Exactly who I am

Inside

‍
